Innovation Norway Awards Project Grant to the University of Bucharest and PSS-GEO
We are pleased to announce that Innovation Norway has granted funding for a collaborative project between the University of Bucharest and PSS-GEO. The main work will be conducted under the framework of the Geophysical Alliance for Green Transition and Smart City Development. The initial results will be presented soon at the Green Transition and Geophysics for Smart Cities Workshop on November 15, 2024, in Bucharest, at the University House.
Our project will focus on introducing advanced geophysical techniques to de-risk drilling for geothermal energy sources and providing a comprehensive assessment of Romania’s geothermal potential. This work will address key geological and tectonic challenges in building accurate subsurface models, leveraging the capabilities of 2D seismic and electrical prospection surveys.
It’s important to note that although there is a great need to make use of the geothermal resources, a clear strategic vision for exploitation and investment cannot be made without having adequate geophysical information. In addition, the project will explore waste-to-energy cycles as a means of supplementing urban energy needs. This aligns with our mission to utilize available energy within the framework of green technologies and sustainability, contributing to the goals of green transition.
Through this alliance, we believe that the final product will be a commercially viable application of these technologies, benefiting both society and the environment.
Join us in the mission of Green Transition and Smart City Development by participating at our workshops and panel of discussion in Bucharest and Oslo!
